IPOD is DEAD

So do we bury our iPods six feet underground now? Not quite, but as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak mentioned, “the iPod would go the way of the transistor radio and Walkman, becoming a cheap and eventually boring commodity product.”

You see, the world has no use for single functioning devices anymore as they’re boring and not even worth their price anymore since they only do one thing and nothing else. Today, it’s all about integration, innovation, inflation and…uhh…gesticulation! We want to hold a personal computer or a Mac in the palm of our hand. We love being able to surf the net(facebook), text our mother’s and listen to music all at once while riding the subway. The world is getting faster, more efficient, and so we demand immediate gratification more and more.

The same trend can also be seen in other electronic devices. Take a look at the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Not only can you play games, but you can also watch movies or television shows, surf the internet, listen to music, etc. Something tells me that this is all just the beginning, and that the future is “painted with colors that my ancient eyes cannot see.” I remember the Wall.E, when mankind is reduced to indolent fat turds who never even bother standing up, since they all have “multifunctioning” chairs. And so I can’t help but think that it’s life imitating art.
